Baseball Beats Oregon State In Extra Innings

COLLEGE STATION, TX-- The Central Michigan University baseball team (9-5 overall) improved to 2-1 in the Continental Express Aggie Baseball Classic with a 4-3 win over Oregon State on Sunday morning.
Freshman Mike Gates hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Chippewas the victory.
Oregon State had led 3-1 going into the sixth inning when the Chippewas scored twice to tie the score at 3-3. Senior Scott Pieratt hit a solo home run and senior Kevin Uzarski hit an RBI double.
Sophomore Nick Zastrow picked up the win for CMU. He blanked Oregon State for 2/3 of an inning to earn his first win on the year. Sophomore Chad Pleiness started the game and gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) in the first 7 1/3 innings of the game.
Uzarski went two-for-two with an RBI and a double while senior Jake Sanborn went two-for-four with two runs scored. Pieratt, Gates and junior Jason Helps each added RBIs for the Chippewas.
CMU wraps up Sunday's action by taking on host Texas A&M at 5 p.m.
