COLLEGE STATION, TX-- The Central Michigan University baseball team (11-6 overall) fell to Oregon State (12-10) by a 5-3 count in its final game in the Continental Express Aggie Baseball Classic on Monday afternoon.
The Chippewas scored a run in the first on a Mike Galloway RBI single and got two more in the fifth when Galloway belted a two-run home run but it was not enough to beat Oregon State. Galloway wrapped up the tournament with a .438 batting average (seven-for-16), eight RBI and two home runs.
Freshman right-hander Jeff Garner took the loss for the Chippewas. He gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) in four innings of work. His record falls to 0-2 on the year.
CMU wrapped up the tournament with a 4-2 record. If Texas A&M beats Ohio State on Monday night the Chippewas win the tournament but if Ohio State prevails, the Buckeyes take the tourney crown.
The Chippewas are off until travelling to Notre Dame on March 28.
