JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Central Michigan University baseball team (4-2 overall) beat Duquesne (1-3 overall) by a 7-1 count on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore pitchers Chad Pleiness and Nick Zastrow combined on a five-hitter to lead the Chippewas to the win. Pleiness went six innings and gave up five hits and one run to pick up the win. Zastrow pitched three innings giving up no hits to get the save.
Senior Kevin Uzarski led the Chippewa offense with a three-run homer in the third inning. He went two-for-four on the day with three RBI and one run scored. Freshman Mike Gates hit two-for-three with two RBI, two runs scored and a double.
CMU takes on South Alabama on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
