Women's Track Wins Western Michigan Quad

KALAMAZOO--The Central Michigan University women's track and field team won the Western Michigan Quadrangular on Saturday afternoon at Kanley Track.
The Chippewas won the meet with 222 points and were followed by Western Michigan (177), Bowling Green (140) and Michigan State (108).
Leading the Chippewas were seven event winners. Shree Jones (Detroit/Sr.) won the 200m (24.81), Brook Creed (Walkerville) won the 1,500m (4:36.28), Patty Langworthy (Holland/Jr.) took top honors in the 5,000m (18:04.14), Kari Karhoff (Durand/Jr.) won the 400m hurdles (1:01.55), Suzy Bozin (Washington/So.) won the high jump (5-8), Jen Brown (Laingsburg/Sr.) won the hammer (184-00) and the 4x100m relay team took first (47.65).
Other top performances were turned in by: Abby Jaroscak (Olmsted Falls, OH/So.) who took third in the 100m (12.39), Karhoff second in the 400m (56.63) and the long jump (17-10 3/4), Jones second in the 100m (12.24), Amber Bright (Lake Ann/Fr.) second in the 100m hurdles (15.12), Jillian Hinds (Traverse City/Fr.) second in the pole vault (10-11 3/4), Melissa Brousseau (Alpena/Jr.) second in the shot put (44-4 1/4) and third in the discus (140-6), Jane Ludtke (White Cloud/So.) second in the discus (149-1), and third in the hammer (152-8), LaQuesha Wiley (Southfield/So.) third in the triple jump (34-5 3/4) and long jump (17-4 1/4) and Heather Postma (Moline/Jr.) second in the javelin (111-00).
The Chippewas compete at the Drake Relays on April 28-29.
