MAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll Announced

MOUNT PLEASANT--According to the women's soccer coaches around the Mid-American Conference (MAC), the Central Michigan University Chippewas are one of the teams in the hunt for the MAC championship this season.
In a close poll, Eastern Michigan was picked as the favorite with six first-place votes and 133 points. The Chippewas were picked second with five first-place votes and 128 points. Miami received one first-place vote and 122 points as the third highest vote getter.
Buffalo was picked fourth (99 points), followed by Northern Illinois and Ohio in a tie (92), Kent State (55), Bowling Green (48), Western Michigan and Marshall in a tie (47), Toledo (44) and Ball State (29).
Eastern Michigan won both the regular season and MAC tournament titles last season and return the 1999 MAC "Player of the Year" in goalkeeper Sarah Willis. The Chippewas return 16 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's team, including first team all-region and All-MAC defender Kjersten Kuhlman (St. Louis, MO/Sr.).
