THE TEAM-- The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (3-7 overall, 1-2 Mid-American) continue conferences action when it plays at Buffalo (6-4, 2-1 Mid-American) on Sept. 29 and at Kent (4-3-2, 0-2-1 Mid-American) on Oct. 1. CMU leads the all-time series versus Buffalo, 2-0. The Chippewas won the last match, 2-0, on Oct. 24, 1999. CMU is 0-2 all-time against Kent. It lost the last meeting, 2-1, on Oct. 22, 1999.
THE COACH -- Mark Salisbury returns for his third season heading up the Central Michigan women's soccer program. Salisbury led the Chippewas to a 14-6-1 overall record and an 8-3 MAC tally in their second season. Salisbury came to CMU from the University of Missouri-Rolla where he served as the men's and women's soccer coach from 1995-97. He led the Missouri-Rolla women's team to a 15-3-1 record in 1997 and helped the men's squad to the 1997 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championship.
WINNING IS CONTAGIOUS--" Buffalo and Kent will be tough matches for our team," said head coach Mark Salisbury. "We'll use last weekend's win over Toledo as a building block and we should be ready for them."
WEEKEND ROLLERCOASTER--" We felt we played well last weekend," Salisbury said. "We thought that we were going to come away with a win against Eastern Michigan but the Eagles capitalized on a last-minute chance. The win against Toledo will be a building block for this team. We have always felt we were a good team but we kept ending up on the wrong side of the score. This win gives us something to build off of."
RECAP-- The Central Michigan soccer team was 1-1 last weekend with a loss to Eastern Michigan and a win over Toledo.
CMU opened the weekend with a 1-0 loss to Eastern Michigan on Friday, it's fourth 1-0 loss this season. The game's lone goal came with 2:01 left in the match.
