Women's Soccer Defeats Ohio In Fourth Overtime, 2-1

ATHENS, Ohio- The Central Michigan women's soccer team (11-9-1 overall, 8-4 Mid-American) moved on to finals of the MAC tournament with a victory over Ohio in the fourth overtime, 2-1.
Allison Campbell (Livonia/Sr.) scored the game-winning goal at 144:45 to lead the Chippewas to victory. Her goal was unassisted as she took a loose ball in the box and put it behind the Ohio goalkeeper.
Erica Peterson (Fenton/Jr.) opened the scoring in the 56th minute when she took a pass from Anne Fedrigo and put it over the Ohio goalkeeper's head. Ohio tied it up in the 83rd minute when Abby Leopold headed in a cross pass.
Ohio dominated, statistically, with 44 shots and 10 shots on goal when compared to 12 shots and three on goal for CMU.
Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) made nine saves in the victory.
Central Michigan moves on to play Miami, who won the other semifinal over Eastern Michigan, 4-1. The championship game will be on Sunday, Nov. 11, with a start time of noon. Miami and Central Michigan entered the season ranked one and two in the MAC preseason coaches poll and Miami won the tournament last season. The winner of the MAC Tournament recieves an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
