Detroit Duo Downs Men's Basketball, 77-68

MOUNT PLEASANT - It was a two-man show for Detroit as the Titans ended CMU's 14-game home winning streak with a 77-68 win in Mount Pleasant.
The loss was CMU's third straight. Central Michigan is now 3-5 while Detroit improves to 6-3.
Guards Willie Green and Greg Grays combined for 52 points and eight three-pointers as a hot-shooting Detroit squad broke open a close game in the closing minutes of the first half. With the scored tied at the 6:04 mark of the first, Detroit went on a 9-0 run for its biggest lead of the half.
The Titans held CMU to 28 percent shooting in the first half and UDM went to the locker room with a 33-25 lead.
Detroit pushed the lead up to 11 early in the second but the Chippewas cut it to two on a three-pointer by Whitney Robinson with 13:48 left. A few minutes later Detroit went on a 12-2 run to extend the lead. UDM pushed it up to a 16-point lead with just under eight minutes remaining.
Central turned up the defensive pressure and was forced to begin fouling Detroit. CMU managed to cut the lead to nine with 1:20 left but the Titans continued to hit their free throws.
Green finished with a game-high 28 points, including three three-pointers. He was 12-for-18 from the floor. Greg Grays added 24 points with five made threes.
David Webber led the Chippewas with 22 points and six rebounds. Robinson had 18 points and three threes.
Gerrit Brigitha, starting in place of the injured Chris Kaman, had 10 points and three rebounds. Mike Manciel added four points and a team-high 11 boards.
Terrell Riggs notched a double-double with 16 points and 15 boards in the winning effort. Detroit shot .509 from the floor and connected on 11-of-16 free throws. Central shot .350 for the game and just .261 (6-for-23) from behind the arc. Rebounding was tied at 38 apiece with CMU grabbing 17 on the offensive end.
Central Michigan closes the non-conference season on Saturday at Northern Iowa (6-3, 1-0 Missouri Valley). The Panthers are undefeated on their home court, including a win over a ranked Iowa team. Tipoff in the UNI Dome is 7 p.m. CST (8 p.m. EST).
