Baseball Beats Detroit In Extra Innings

DETROIT--Central Michigan scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to post a 6-5 victory over Detroit on Tuesday afternoon at Titan Field.
Mike Galloway had an RBI single and Matt Crowley had a single to center that scored a pair of runs to give the Chippewas a 6-3 advantage.
Detroit's Ryan Rumberger slammed a two-run homer to slice the CMU lead to 6-5 but the Titans could get no closer.
The Titans got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Central responded with two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Ryan Krueger started the scoring with a sacrifice fly and Galloway had an RBI single.
Detroit took the lead back with two runs in the fourth inning to make it 3-2.
CMU scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 3-3. The Chippewas then held the Titans off the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
Chad Pleiness picked up the win in relief. He pitched the final two innings, giving up two hits and two runs to even his record at 2-2.
Galloway went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI to lead the CMU hitting attack.
The Chippewas (20-12) host Hillsdale College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
