Baseball Places Two On All-MAC Squad

MOUNT PLEASANT--Central Michigan had a pair of baseball players earn All-Mid-American Conference honors.
Relief pitcher Gavin Gillette (DeWitt/Jr.) was named to the first team while shortstop Jason Helps (Wyoming, Ontario/Sr.) earned second team honors.
Gillette is 5-1 with a 1.24 earned run average for the Chippewas. He has also posted a pair of saves.
Helps is hitting .295 with a team highs in home runs (14) and RBI (58). He has also posted three triples and 12 doubles.
In other MAC awards, John VanBenschoten of Kent State was named the Player of the Year, Ball State's Bryan Bullington Pitcher of the Year and Toledo's Mitch Maier Freshman of the Year. Ball State coach Rich Maloney was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
