MAC Women's Soccer Poll Released

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan women's soccer team was picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) coaches poll.
The Chippewas received 142 votes including one first-place vote. Miami University was the only team picked ahead of CMU. The RedHawks garnered 160 votes with nine first-place ballots. Buffalo, the MAC regular season champion last year, was fifth with 128 votes and one first-place nod.
CMU finished in third place with a 7-4 record in the MAC last season. It hosted the first round of the MAC playoffs for the second straight season.
Behind Miami and Central were: Ohio with 134 (two first place), Eastern Michigan 131, Buffalo 128 (one first place), Bowling Green 105, Western Michigan 91, Marshall 81, Kent State 61, Ball State 54, Toledo 40, Northern Illinois 39, and first-year program Akron 17.
Central Michigan kicks off the 2001 season at Pittsburgh on Aug. 31. The home opener is on Sept. 21 when CMU hosts the top pick, Miami. The match is set for 4 p.m.
