Men's Basketball Captures Third Straight Win

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University spotted the University of Toledo a 19-6 lead and then roared back for a 75-61 Mid-American Conference (MAC) win here Tuesday night.
It marked CMU's third straight victory in MAC action, raising its record to 3-4 in league action and 6-9 for the season. The Rockets fall to 3-3 in conference play and 6-9 overall.
Sophomore Chris Kaman, Central's 7-0 center, powered the Chippewa win with game highs in points (22) and rebounds (15). Junior forward Chad Pleiness added 17 and senior guard David Webber bagged 15.
Toledo was led by guards Terry Reynolds and Nick Moore with 20 and 19 points, respectively.
The Rockets still led by 13 at 27-14 with 7:47 remaining when CMU went on a 12-point run to cut it to 27-26. Down by 34-33 with 3:01 to go in the half, the Chippewas scored the final seven points to take a 40-34 lead at intermission.
Toledo could get no closer than five, 50-45, in the second half while CMU's final margin of 14 points was its largest of the game.
The Chippewas shot 50 percent from the floor on 25-of-50 compared to UT's 45.7 percent on 21-of-46. A big edge in the game was in rebounding where Central claimed a 39-25 edge.
CMU returns to action at Akron this Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. Central's next home action will be on Saturday, Feb. 2, against Northern Illinois at 2 p.m.
