MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University women's soccer team completed the regular season this afternoon with a 3-0 loss to the Michigan State Spartans.
The Chippewas fall to 5-8-5 overall on the season.
MSU dominated the play as it spent a majority of the game on the offensive. The Spartans outshot the Chippewas, 12-7, but MSU managed to get nine shots on goal to CMU's three.
The Spartans held a narrow 1-0 lead going into the half, thanks to Heidi Lutz's tally in the 31st minute. MSU's offense sealed the deal with two more goals in the second stanza. Tiffany Laskowski (65:25) and Andi Sied (80:56) would add to the lead before it was all said and done.
The Chippewas now head into the conference playoffs on Tuesday afternoon. CMU enters the second season as the No. 8 seed and will square off against the Mid-American Conference's top team, Miami, on November 4 at 2 p.m.
