Men's Cross Country Finishes Third At Great Lakes Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana - The No. 9 Central Michigan University men's cross country team finished third with 123 points at the Great Lakes Regional on Saturday afternoon. It was a 10k race.
No. 4 Wisconsin won the region with a score of 57 points. Following the Badgers are: No. 7 Eastern Michigan 70; CMU; No. 20 Indiana 124; and No. 17 Ohio State 138.
Sophomore Jake Flynn of Benzonia led the Chippewas with an eighth-place finish (30:48). Other top finishers for CMU were: sophomore Tristen Perlberg of Bay City, 12th (30:52); junior Luke Humphrey of Sidney, 21st (31:15); junior Dave Ernsberger of Petoskey, 27th (31:22); junior Don Wilkins of Trenton, 55th (32:02); junior Jeff Davis of Temperance, 64th (32:21); and senior Pete Remein of Ishpeming, 71st (32:34).
Wisconsin and Eastern Michigan receive the automatic bids that go to the top two teams in every region.
The Chippewas will find out if they receive one of 13 at-large bids to the NCAA Championship, on Monday, November 18. The qualifiers will be announced on the NCAA website, www.ncaachampionships.com.
The NCAA Championships are on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 a.m. It takes place in Terre Haute, Indiana.
