Western Michigan head coach Gary Darnell
"We have learned a ton of lessons all year long, not always how we would like to, but we put it all together today."
"I am really thrilled for the senior class. This is a special group that could've cracked at any time this season, but they didn't. I am very proud of the whole team."
"The streak wasn't a focus for us. This was about our team right now. We had nothing to do with the other 28 years."
"We lost a few games in the last 30 seconds or minute this season. It doesn't do you any good to play for 59 minutes."
"We tried hard to take care of the ball. We had some problems, but for the most part we did pretty well."
"As coaches we live our lives in a case. I didn't hear a lot about it (CMU's home winning streak over Western). My wife probably had to deal with it more than me. I talked to some ex-players after the game, who had won championships, and they said this was something that they never did. It's a piece of special history that I am proud to achieve."
CMU head coach Mike DeBord
"It's difficult to lose to Western anytime. It's just difficult to lose."
"We are at a point at quarterback where we have been too inconsistent to be successful. I also think that our speed at wide receiver has limited our offensive performance. These are two things that we need to address over the offseason."
"I think that we improved our stength, conditioning, and our running offense and defense. It takes a while to develop a consistent passing game, and we found out this season how important it to have a consistent passing game."
