Five Field Hockey Players Earn Academic Honors

The Central Michigan field hockey team had five players garner National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad honors for the 2001-02 academic year.
Honorees from CMU were Allison Foland (Springfield, Va/So.), Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, NY/Sr.), Meg Lewis (Pittsford, N.Y./Jr.), Kristy Reed (South Wales, N.Y./Fr.) and Katrina Woznek (Amherst, N.Y./Sr.).
Lazarevski had a 3.79 grade point average. She started all 18 games last season and led the team in goals (7), assists (6) and points (19).
Woznek (3.87 GPA) tallied two goals and started all 18 games for the Chippewas. Lewis had a 3.31 GPA and started 18 games while scoring five goals and notching two assists.
Foland managed one goal in 18 games started and held a 3.30 GPA. In her first season, Reed started in 17 games and scored one goal while earning a 3.86 GPA.
In order to make the all-academic team, students must attain a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2001-02 academic year and are starters or key reserves on their respective teams.
