MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University's first five home baseball games in 2002 will be free to the public to allow fans to see the new Theunissen Stadium and all of its amenities.
Those games are Wayne State on March 26 and the four-game MAC opener with Ohio on March 29-31.
CMU will begin charging with the April 2 contest with Saginaw Valley.
"We want everyone to come to those first games and see CMU baseball at its new location," Central Michigan athletics director Herb Deromedi said. "We decided to begin charging because of the increasing cost of our baseball program. It offers us an opportunity to defray expenses. One would find that charging for baseball is consistent with several other MAC schools."
Single day passes will be $4 for adults, $3 for youth (16 and under) and retirees (55 and older), and free for CMU students with a valid ID and children two and under.
Weekend passes for MAC series will be $10 for adults and $8 each for youth and retirees.
Season passes will also be available, costing $50 for adults and $40 each for youth, retirees and faculty/staff.
Seating will all be general admission on a first-come, first-serve basis.
