Pleiness Cops MAC Pitching Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University senior right-hander Chad Pleiness was named the Mid-American Conference West Division "Pitcher of the Week" for the third time this season after a 1-0 win over Ball State.

The 6-6 native of Scottville who went to Mason County Central threw a six-hitter against the West-leading Cardinals. He struck out 12 and walked three while raising his record to 5-3.

Pleiness, a starter on the CMU basketball team the past three seasons, lowered his ERA to 2.40.

The Chippewas will host Michigan on Tuesday in a single, nine-inning game beginning at 2 p.m.
