Second Chippewa Picked Up In MLB Draft

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University junior outfielder Dan Gibbons (Toronto, Ont.) was the second Chippewa baseball player to get picked up in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft.
The 6-3 right fielder was selected in the 24th round of the draft by the Oakland Athletics this afternoon.
In his junior year, Gibbons played in 38 games and hit .341 with seven home runs and 29 RBI.
Chippewa pitcher Chad Pleiness was a fifth round selection by Toronto on Tuesday.
