MOUNT PLEASANT-- The Central Michigan University women's cross country team competed in its first meet Friday, the non-scoring Jeff Drenth Memorial at University Park in Mount Pleasant.
CMU finished with five runners in the top seven, with Karen LeRoy (Oxford/Jr.) capturing first place in 19:04. Melissa Miller (Portland/Jr.) finished second with a 19:12 showing, while Cami Moll (Zeeland/Jr.) and Teresa Bongiovanni (Washington/Fr.) rounded out the top four in 19:30 and 19:30.5, respectively. Shannon Webster (Dearborn/Jr.) crossed the line seventh with a 19:56.
Also competing in the race were Michigan State University and Ferris State University.
The Chippewas travel to Oxford, Ohio, next Saturday, Sept. 7, to square off in the Miami Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
