Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University women's soccer team dropped its Mid-American Conference opener with a 2-1 loss to Eastern Michigan this afternoon.
The Chippewas fall to 1-3 and are now 0-1 in MAC play.
Erica Peterson (Fenton/Sr.) posted the only Chippewa goal. She cut EMU's lead in half at the 82:22 mark when she found the net on a rebound after a cornerkick. Olina Vidarsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland/So.) and Jennifer Williamson (Midland/Jr.) each got an assist on the play
EMU built a two-goal lead when Michele Lawrence found the net in the 35th minute. Jessica Hupe put in the game-winner at the 60-minute mark.
Kari Alexander (Midland/Jr.) got the nod in goal and made two saves and allowed both goals.
The Chippewas return to action on Sunday, September 15, when they play at Wright State. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
