Field Hockey falls to No.6 Iowa, 3-2

The Central Michigan University field hockey team (3-7, 2-2 Mid-American) fell to No. 6 Iowa in a tightly contested game Sunday afternoon, 3-2.
Scoring both goals for CMU was Alisa Folk (Richmond, B.C./So.), who currently leads the team with seven goals this season.
Iowa got on the board first with a goal at 16:42 by Pattie Gillern. Gillern scored again only two minutes later to give the Hawkeyes a 2-0 lead. Both goals were unassisted.
Folk got CMU within one with a goal at 25:35. Folk tipped in a rebound shot from Kristy Reed (South Wales, N.Y./Jr.) for the goal. The goal was unassisted. Folk scored again early in the second half with another tipped in shot off a rebound. That goal was also unassisted.
Iowa got the game-winner from Kelly Slattery at the 52:54 mark of the game. Slattery took a pass from Jessica Zosky, who earned an assist on the play.
CMU outshot and out corner Iowa in the match. CMU had 19 shots, 14 on goal, while Iowa had 10 shots, eight on goal. CMU won the penalty corner advantage, 11-7.
Danielle Frank (Williamsvile, N.Y./Fr.) got her second-straight start in the match. She made five saves and allowed three goals. Barb Weinberg was in net for Iowa, making 12 saves in the match.
CMU hits the road in its next match with a game against Stanford at Michigan State's field in East Lansing. The game is on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m.
