Men fourth, Women 12th at Cross Country Regionals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Central Michigan University men's and women's cross country teams took on some of the top teams in the region at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet this afternoon.
The men's team finished in fourth place with 131 points while the women's team took 12th with 350 points.
Tristen Perlberg led the men's team in the 10k competition. Perlberg was eighth with a time of 30:48. Luke Humphrey was right behind his teammate, taking 12th in 30:51.
Don Wilkins, Jake Flynn, and Jacques Henning round out the scorers for the men's team. Wilkins was 30th (31:13), Flynn was 34th (31:17), and Henning was 47th (31:30).
Jeff Davis (48th, 31:30) and Rick Bauer (114th, 33:08) finished off top seven runners for the men's team.
Wisconsin was the top men's team in the region. The Badgers were first with 72 points. Michigan was second (76), Ohio State third (116), and Indiana fifth (134). The race featured 32 teams from the Great Lakes Region.
The men's individual champion was Gavin Thompson from Eastern Michigan. He led the entire pack with a time of 30:12.

Cami Moll led the women's team in its 12th-place finish. She raced the 6k course in 21:50, finishing 32nd.
Trailing Moll was Danielle Quisenberry (22:24, 61st), Teresa Bongiovanni (22:41, 79th), Melissa Miller (22:47, 84th), and Karen LeRoy (23:02, 94th).
Rounding out the top seven for the women's team was Melissa Quisenberry (23:38, 126th) and Megan Newton (24:02, 160th).
Notre Dame took the top team honors. The Fighting Irish led all women's teams with 43 points. Completing the top five were Michigan (58), Michigan State (96), Indiana (150), and Marquette (159). There were 30 teams racing in all.
Molly Huddle of UND was the top runner in the region. She was first place in 20:14.
The top two teams and the top four individuals, not on one of those teams (providing they finish in the top 25), will automatically qualify for the NCAA Meet on Monday, Nov. 24 at Northern Iowa. On Monday, Nov. 17, the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship Committee will select 13 at large teams and two at large individuals from the NCAA's nine regions. Thirty-one teams and 38 individuals will qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships.
