MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University head football coach Brian Kelly completed his football coaching today with the hiring of one assistant coach and two graduate assistants.
Joining the Chippewas as the offensive line coach will be long-time Grand Valley State University assistant Jeff Quinn, a 1984 graduate of Elmhurst College.
Also new to the staff will be graduate assistants, Matt LaFleur (Saginaw Valley State University, 2003) and Robert Saleh (Northern Michigan University, 2001).
Quinn had been at GVSU since 1989 where he had served as the associate head coach under Kelly. Prior to going to Grand Valley, Quinn was the head wrestling coach and assistant football coach at Ohio Northern University (1986-88) and an assistant football and wrestling coach at DePauw University (1984-86).
Quinn played football and wrestled at Elmhurst where he was a three-year starter and co-captain in both sports.
LaFleur is the son of former CMU assistant coach and Chippewa standout, Denny LaFleur. Matt was an outstanding quarterback at Saginaw Valley.
Saleh was a four-year starter and an all-conference tight end at NMU.
Kelly, head coach at Grand Valley for 13 seasons, had previously announced eight members of his new staff -- four from CMU's staff in 2003 and four newcomers.
Returning from last year's staff are: Joe Danna (defensive assistant); Butch Jones (running backs); John Jancek (defensive coordinator/linebackers); and Plas Presnell (Director of Football Operations).
New staff members are: Tony Dews (previously at Holy Cross), tackles and tight ends; Mike Elston (Eastern Michigan), defensive line; Greg Forest (Grand Valley) wide receivers; and Tony Oden (Eastern Michigan/East Carolina), defensive backs.
