TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Central Michigan University finished 23rd in the NCAA men's cross country championships here Monday afternoon.
The Chippewas were led by senior Tristen Perlberg who finished 38th in a time of 32:02 over the 10,000-meter course at Indiana State University.
"I'm not entirely pleased with how we ran," said CMU head coach Craig Fuller. "We were hoping for a top 20 but we did beat some good teams. We were ranked 29th going in and a lot of schools didn't feel we belonged. But, a top 25 finish showed that we did."
Also running for CMU were: Dave Ernsberger, 80th in 32:42; Jacques Henning, 111 in 33:05; Jacob Flynn, 143 in 33:27; Matt Loiselle, 146 in 33:28; Jacob Crowe, 178 in 34:13; and Frank Therrian, 184 in 34:34.
Dave Ernsberger was the second Chippewa to cross the finish in 80th place. |
Colorado won the team title with 90 points followed by Wisconsin in second with 94 and Arkansas third at 202. CMU had 518 points while Michigan was 26th with 535 and Michigan State 28th with 565.
The individual champion was Wisconsin's Simon Bairu in a time of 30:38.
