Soccer Falls in Final to Bowling Green, 2-0

ATHENS, Ohio - The Central Michigan University soccer team came up just short in its bid for a Mid-American Conference tournament title, falling 2-0 in the finals to Bowling Green
The Chippewas end their season 10-8-3 while BGSU improves to 10-11-2 and earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The tournament took place in Athens, Ohio.
The match was the final contest for CMU's lone senior Lisa Taube. Taube was an All-MAC player this season and a four-year starter for the Chippewas.
The Falcons took the lead 22 minutes into the match with a goal by Gina Rossi. Rossi took a pass from Kristy Coppes and fired a shot from the left side that when into the top right corner.
Bowling Green padded its lead with a goal six minutes later with a goal from Nikki Pucillo. Pucillo tipped the ball in from just two yards out after a pass from Leah Eggleton.
The CMU offense peppered BGSU goalkeeper Ali Shingler with 11 shots on goal and 22 total shots, but the Chippewas were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. CMU keeper Anne Decker made one save.
