The Chippewas have won two straight conference road games for the first time since 1994.
CMU has won two games in the state of Ohio this season (Miami, Akron). The Chippewas last won at least two games in Ohio in 1994, when they claimed wins at Akron, Ohio, and Bowling Green.
Of the 49 players who played at least one snap on Saturday night, 25 were either freshmen or sophomores by eligibility.
The CMU defense intercepted three passes on Saturday at Akron to raise its season total to five. The Chippewas intercepted just five passes in all of 2004.
Ontario Sneed ran for a career-high 183 yards on 21 carries (8.7 ypc.) on Saturday. His performance came just one week after the Akron defense held Northern Illinois' Garrett Wolfe, the defending MAC rushing champ, to 52 yards on 21 carries.
CMU has won two straight games in Akron. The Chippewas' last trip to the Rubber Bowl resulted in a 24-17 win in 2002.
