Gaesser Named MAC Player of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University sophomore defender Laura Gaesser (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference women's soccer Player of the Week.

Gaesser scored two goals this weekend, including the game-winner in overtime against Ohio on Friday, to help the Chippewas win a pair of road matches and start MAC play with a 2-0-0 record. The goal at Ohio came on a blast from 20 yards out and was her first of the season. On Sunday, she netted a goal in the 72nd minute which tied things up with Akron in a match the Chippewas went on to win, 2-1. The goals were the defender's first points of the season.

Gaesser and the rest of the CMU soccer team return home this weekend to start a four-match homestand. The first of those matches is Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. at the CMU Soccer Complex.
