Majerle Inducted into Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

DETROIT, Mich -- Former Central Michigan University basketball standout Dan Majerle was one of eight inductees enshrined into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame on Monday night at Cobo Hall.
A native of Traverse City, Majerle had a standout career for the Chippewas from 1985-88. He was a three-time first team All-Mid-American Conference selection and led the Chippewas to the 1987 MAC title. Majerle currently ranks second in career scoring (2,055) and fifth in career rebounding (834).
Following his CMU career, Dan was the 1988 USA Olympic team's leading scorer, helping the Red, White and Blue to a bronze medal. He then went on to a 14-year career in the National Basketball Association playing with the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. "Thunder" Dan was a two-time NBA All-Star.
Joining Majerle in the class of 2006 were Red Wings' executive Jimmy Devellano, broadcaster Dave Diles, football player Everett "Sonny" Grandelius, basketball player Greg Kelser, high school coach Diane Laffey, Pistons' executive Jack McCloskey and baseball player Frank Tanana.
