Four Chippewas Earn All-MAC Honors

ATHENS, Ohio -- Four members of the Central Michigan University field hockey team earned All-Mid-American Conference honors it was announced at the MAC Tournament banquet on Thursday night.
Goalkeeper Danielle Frank, forward Samantha Sandham and midfielder Kim Erasmus were all named to the first team. Erasmus also picked up MAC Freshman of the Year honors.
Forward Alicia Balanesi was named to the second team.
Frank, a senior co-captain, led the league in saves during the regular season (168) and she was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week once.
Sandham, a sophomore who earned second team honors last year, led the MAC in goals (14) and points (35) entering the MAC Tournament.
Erasmus became CMU's first MAC Freshman of the Year since Kelly Sadowski earned the league's rookie honor in 1993. She was the only freshman on the first team this year. Erasmus had one goal and two assists, along with three defensive saves.
Balanesi, a senior co-captain, had seven goals and three assists for 17 points en route to second team honors.
The Chippewas bowed out of the MAC Tournament on Thursday with an opening-round loss to Kent State, 6-0.
