Mitzel Named to Wallace Award Watch List

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University senior outfielder Bryan Mitzel (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) has been named to the College Baseball Foundation Wallace Watch List.
The Wallace Award is presented annually by the CBF to its national player of the year. Mitzel is one of 120 players nationwide named to the preseason watch list.
Mitzel hit .305 and led the Chippewas in doubles (16) and home runs (15) in 2006. He scored 44 runs and drove in 57 runs, earning All-Mideast Region and All-Mid-American Conference first team honors in the process.
Mitzel enters his senior season ranking first all-time at CMU in doubles (48), second in home runs (40) and extra base hits (91) and third in runs batted in (180).
CMU, the 2006 MAC West Division champ, opens the 2007 season with a three-game series at Alabama-Birmingham Feb. 16-18.
