Comcast Local Appearance Highlights Weekend Events for Chippewa Baseball

MOUNT PLEASANT - With first place in the Mid-American Conference West Division on the line this weekend, a trio of special events will highlight Central Michigan University's baseball series against Eastern Michigan.
Comcast Local will televise Friday's series opener that will feature a matchup of two of the top pitchers in the MAC in CMU's Ty Dunham and EMU's Jeff Fischer. Dunham enters the weekend 5-3 overall, including 3-2 in the MAC. He boasts a 2.87 ERA and a pair of complete game wins in conference play. Fischer, meanwhile, leads the MAC in wins (seven) and is tied for first in strikeouts (79) while holding opposing hitters to a .236 average.
Saturday is CMU Pride Day at Theunissen Stadium. All tickets for game two of the CMU-EMU series will be $3, and the first 50 fans at the gate will receive a free gift.
Sunday is Youth Baseball Day. All 8- to-14-year-olds wearing their youth team's jersey and cap will be admitted free, and the first 75 fans through the gate will receive a free 2006 CMU baseball team photo. The Chippewa players and coaches will be available for autographs following the game.
The Chippewas (28-17 overall, 13-5 MAC) enter the weekend with a one-game lead over Eastern Michigan in the West Division. CMU is also tied with Kent State for first in the conference's overall standings.
