Central Michigan field hockey head coach Cristy Freese has named Molly Maloney an assistant coach. She will primarily work with the goalkeepers. “I am really excited about the addition of Molly to the coaching staff this season,” Freese said. “Molly joins us from a championship program and we can use her expertise in goalkeeping to continue to improve our squad. She will be working with two young keepers and a veteran keeper in Danielle Frank. They will all benefit from her knowledge.” Molly was a four-year letterwinner and a member of the 2001 national championship squad at University of Michigan. The Lake Bluff, Illinois native holds the school record for most shutouts in a season with nine and ranks third in all-time wins with 28. Molly finished her career posting a 29-8-0 record between the pipes and a .611 save percentage. She was a member of the Big Ten All-Academic squad from 2001-04 and NFACA national academic squad from 2000-04. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in physical education and health. Molly spent the 2005 season as a graduate assistant for the Kent State University field hockey program while working on her master’s degree in exercise physiology. She is currently continuing to pursue her master’s degree at CMU.
