West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez:
Central Michigan has selected a terrific coach in Butch Jones. Butch has done an outstanding job with our receivers during the past two years, and has been a key part of our offensive success. We certainly wish him well in his new opportunity. Central Michigan is getting not just an outstanding football coach, but a great family man who will be an asset to the campus and community.
West Virginia quarterback Pat White, Big East Offensive Player of the Year and Gator Bowl MVP:
Coach Jones is a great coach, both in his knowledge of football and in how he works with his players. He really helped me improve as a passer and in my growth as a quarterback. We will miss him.
Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr:
Butch is one of the best young coaches anywhere in the country, and Central Michigan has made a great hire for its new head football coach. Not only is he an outstanding coach, he is also a man of great character and is extremely bright. He will be a great representative for Central Michigan University and its football program. There is no doubt in my mind that he will do an outstanding job and be a winner at CMU.
Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez:
Any time you can hire a football coach who is a fundamentalist, is a motivator, and is an excellent teacher, you’ve done a good job, and Central Michigan could not have found a better man for its football program than Butch Jones. Butch is an outstanding coach, and an even better family man and teacher. CMU has made an excellent choice in hiring Butch Jones to be its new head football coach.
Rockford High School head coach Ralph Munger:
I've known Butch a long time, and from a high school coach's perspective, I know that he is going to assemble a staff at CMU that takes care of its athletes both on and off the field. That is something that is important to me and to our parents when we have a player that is being recruited. We want to make sure they will be looked after and taken care of in a top-shelf manner, and I know Butch and his staff will see to that. And, in talking to Butch from a football related standpoint, I have always been very impressed by his attention to detail.
Stevensville Lakeshore High School head coach Denny Dock:
Butch is just a great person. As a father who had a son recruited by Butch, I always thought that he was honest and straightforward. He has always been willing to sit down and share information and I've always thought that he has a good eye for talent. He is a good guy and a great coach.
Port Huron High School head coach Ed Kindle:
If I had to describe Butch, it would be that he is calm like a bomb. He has that calm demeanor on the outside, but he is someone that will have no problem getting people motivated. He is going to do a fantastic job at Central Michigan University, and I think he is someone who is going to be there for the long haul. He is going to be committed to that program. He has been a guy that has worked so hard to get to that level, and no one is going to out-work him now, period.
Former Chippewa and 2005 NFL draft pick Adam Kieft:
Coach Jones is a good coach and motivator who players love to play for. He has a great offensive mind. He is a fiery guy who is always upbeat and always confident. He will always go out of his way to help his players or former players.
Former Chippewa and 2005 NFL draft pick Eric Ghiaciuc:
He is an intense coach with a great work ethic and is exactly what Central needs. He is a CMU guy at heart. He loves it at CMU and that will show in the kind of person and coach he is.
