Stovall Earns MAC West Player of the Week Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT – Central Michigan University junior catcher/outfielder Tyler Stovall (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.
Stovall batted .500 (10-for-20) as CMU posted a 3-2 mark in five games last week. Among his 10 hits were a triple and a home run. He also scored four runs and drove in seven. He recorded at least one RBI in each of CMU’s five games last week.
In a 9-2 win over Duquesne on March 7 he was 3-for-3 with two singles, a home run, two walks, three runs, and three RBI. His home run was a three-run shot during a four-run sixth inning that put the game out of reach.
Stovall is hitting .500 (20-for-40) for the season with 12 runs and 12 RBI. He leads the team in hits and average, is tied for the team lead in runs and ranks second in RBI.
Stovall is the third different Chippewa in the past four weeks to earn MAC West Division Player of the Week honors. It is the first time in his career he has received the conference’s weekly honor.
CMU (7-7 overall) visits Kansas State for a three-game series beginning Friday.
