Cross Country Receives Academic Award at Banquet

MOUNT PLEASANT The Central Michigan University men’s cross country team was the recipient of a coveted award given out at the 15th annual Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Banquet on Monday, April 23.
It earned both the the team academic award for the 2006-2007 academic year. Both a women’s and men’s team are honored.
The team academic award is given to the team with the highest overall cumulative grade-point average among its student-athletes. CMU cross country boasts a 3.315 cumulative GPA, tops among men’s sports.
Individually, eight current or former Chippewa runners were honored at the banquet for maintaining at least a 3.5 grade-point average through the fall semester. Those student-athletes were: Sean Anthony, 3.91; Alex Donaghy, 4.00; Adam Koepfer, 3.51; Andrew Manning, 3.59; Jeff Maxfield, 3.56; Chris Pankow, 3.70; Jay Puffpaff, 3.61; and Frank Therrian, 3.66
