Collmenter Named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT - Josh Collmenter (Homer, Mich./Homer HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at Eastern Michigan on May 4.
Collmenter matched a career high with 14 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout against the Eagles. He surrendered just four singles and retired the final 10 hitters he faced in order. It was his third complete-game shutout in his first seven MAC starts of the season.
Collmenter is a marketing major with a 3.82 grade-point average. He is 9-2 overall with a 1.43 earned-run average in 2007; in eight MAC starts, he is 8-0 with a 0.53 ERA.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
