Josh Gordy, Justin Hoskins, Matt Torres and Carl Volny visited Andria Moon's fourth-grade class and took part in recess with all the students. The CMU student-athletes played catch, signed autographs and ran races with the elementary students. After recess, the players returned to the classroom to help sing "Happy Birthday" to one of Moon's students.
"It's important that members of our program give back to the community," said CMU head football coach Butch Jones. "I would like for us to do different things each week in the community. We need to give back to all those who support us. By members of our program being out there and being visible, we can create stronger relationships and the community can create an identity with our players."
CMU student-athletes annually participate in a number of community service activities, including partnerships with the Isabella County American Red Cross Canned Food Drive and Michigan Special Olympics. Each varsity program at CMU also takes part in its own community service initiatives.
