Sandham Named Longstreth/NFHCA First Team All-West Region

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan senior midfielder Samantha Sandham (Cape Town, South Africa/Parel Valley HS) was named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s All-West Region first team.
Sandham led the Chippewas this season with 15 goals, nine assists, 39 points and 92 shots. She was named the Mid-American Conference’s Player of the Year in addition to earning first team All-MAC honors.
Sandham finished her career as CMU’s all-time assists leader (34) while ranking fourth in goals (38). Her 110 career points are the second most in school history and she is only the third Chippewa to eclipse the 100-point mark.
This is the first time a CMU player has earned first team honors since Janel Spero in 2002. Sandham was named second team All-Region in 2006.
