Brown, Bellore Earn All-America Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT Central Michigan sophomores Antonio Brown and Nick Bellore have earned All-America honors from a pair of media outlets.
Brown was named to Phil Steele’s All-America fourth team as a punt returner and SI.com’s honorable mention squad as a return specialist. Bellore collected honorable mention honors from SI.com.
Both Brown and Bellore were All-Mid-American Conference first team selections this season. Brown, the conference’s special teams player of the year, earned first team All-MAC honors as a receiver, kickoff returner and punt returner. Bellore was tabbed a first-team linebacker after leading the conference with 135 tackles.
Brown leads the nation in punt return yardage, averaging 20.7 yards per return. He has five returns of at least 36 yards in 2008, including a 75-yard return for the go-ahead touchdown at Ohio on Sept. 13.
As a receiver, Brown has caught a team-leading 82 passes for 906 yards and six touchdowns. His 82 catches are the third-most in a season in school history, while his 906 receiving yards rank sixth.
Bellore enters the bowl game ranked fourth nationally with an average of 11.2 tackles per game. Bellore made at least 11 stops in nine of CMU’s 12 regular season games, including a career-high tying 16 tackles against both Eastern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.
Brown and Bellore were two of the six Chippewas named to Phil Steele’s All-MAC squad. A complete list of those honorees can be found below.
CMU (8-4 overall, 6-2 MAC) meets Florida Atlantic in the Motor City Bowl on Dec. 26 at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ESPN will televise the game to a national audience.
