Michigan Intercollegites on Tap for Cross Country

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University cross country program will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to compete in Michigan Intercollegiate hosted by Calvin College.
The Chippewas will look to run a variety of runners to get a better idea of a final roster for the Mid-American Conference meet.
“We will look to try to get some more athletes who did not run last weekend a chance to get another race in this weekend, “head coach Willie Randolph said.
With the MAC meet less than a month away CMU is looking to finalize rosters on both sides.
“This weekend will give us a chance to find who are our strongest runners are for both the men and women,” Randolph said. “We are becoming a very strong program and this is one more meet to strengthen our teams even more.”
The Michigan Intercollegiates is a prime race for many cross country programs, strong teams will be on tap for the race and create some very good competition.
“I expect to see a lot of good things this weekend,” Randolph said. “This should be a good weekend to get us ready for Pre-Nationals and the MAC.”
The meet will begin Friday with the women running at 3:30 and then men’s race to follow at 4:15.

Regional Rankings- The CMU men’s cross country team is now ranked 13th in the Great Lakes Region. The Maroon and Gold spent the past two weeks at 14th and now pass Purdue and Marquette in the rankings. Rankings provided by United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
