SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Central Michigan baseball team will travel to face Notre Dame in South Bend at Frank Eck Stadium on Tuesday before returning home to face Buffalo in a thee-game weekend set to open the home Mid-American Conference schedule, starting on Friday.
First pitch between the Irish and Chippewas is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
CMU (9-12, 1-2 MAC) traveled to Notre Dame (13-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) last year and held a 3-2 lead in the sixth, but winter weather forced the postponement of the game, which reverted to a 2-2 tie after five innings.
Central’s freshman left-hander Trent Howard (1-0, 6.75 ERA) will take the mound for his second career start, after tossing six strong innings to pick up his first collegiate win against Milwaukee last Wednesday. Notre Dame will throw a freshman lefty of its own in Dustin Ispas (0-0, 2.92 ERA).
Since 1970, the Chippewas have posted the best winning percentage among Division I schools in the Midwest at .647 (1,334-728-1), while Notre Dame is second at .638 (1,296-734-1)
WMHW-FM 91.5 will broadcast the contest, with the station’s live webstream available at cmuchipppewas.com. There will also be live stats, courtesy of und.com.
