Guetzke Blanks Gold in 3-0 Maroon Victory

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Sophomore Brock Guetzke tossed eight shutout innings to help Maroon take a series lead in the Fall World Series at Theunissen Stadium on Tuesday, 3-0.
Guetzke gave up just two hits and a walk while fanning eight and sophomore Dietrich Enns finished the shutout with a scoreless ninth to earn a save.
The first run came on heads-up base running by Jordan Dean, who reached on a fielder's choice, took third on a Tyler Hall single and crossed the plate when Hall got caught between first and second.
Sophomore Jordan Adams led off the Maroon fourth with a solo home run and freshman Tyler Huntey tacked on an important insurance run with a solo shot in the eighth.
Singles in the third and fourth would be the only hits Guetzke would allow on the day.
Maroon now owns a 2-1-1 series lead. Game five is scheduled for Friday.
