Chippewas Head to Pre-Nationals

MOUNT PLEASANT – TThe Central Michigan men’s and women’s cross country teams begin a crucial stretch of their schedule on Saturday when they will compete in the NCAA Pre-National Meet.
The CMU women will race in the 6K Blue Race at 11 a.m. The CMU men will race in the 8K White Race at 12:50 p.m.
There are three women’s races and three men’s races in the meet, with a total of 82 women’s teams and 76 men’s teams competing.
There are 16 teams running on the women’s side that are ranked in the top 30 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Poll. On the men’s side, there are 20 teams competing that are among the top 30 in the USTFCCCA Division I National Poll.
There are several teams competing that CMU has run against already this season. Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio and Toledo will all have teams running on Saturday.
"We are excited that the later part of the season is here and that we are prepared for it," said director of track & field and cross country Willie Randolph. "The team is coming together right now and they are physically and mentally prepared for this meet."
The travel roster for the Chippewas on the women’s side is Holly Anderson, Danielle Dakroub, Melissa Darling, Brittany Dixon, Kylee Kubacki, Raeanne Lohner, Krista Parks, Maddie Ribant and Sarah Squires.
Cory Arnold, Wade Buchs, Jason Drudge, Nathan Huff, Jeremy Kiley, Chris Lotz, Chris Pankow, Nathan Sanchez and Zach Tranter make up the travel squad for the men’s program.
