Mannino Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT — Senior goalkeeper Shay Mannino has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Mannino earned two wins in Central Michigan's victories over rival Western Michigan and Northern Illinois last weekend. After making four saves and recording her second solo shutout of the season, Mannino became CMU's all-time leader in wins with 39. She earned her 40th win of the season on Sunday after playing the first 45 minutes of CMU's 3-0 win over NIU. The Grosse Ile, Mich., native now sports an 8-1-1 record on the season and maintains the lead league with a 0.43 goals against average.
Mannino and the Chippewas will take on Toledo for MAC West supremacy this Friday, as the two 8-0-0 teams will kickoff at 4 p.m.
