"Last year's event proved to be the largest single-day fund-raiser of the year and this year we have even loftier goals that are very much within reach," said Assistant Athletics Director for the Chippewa Athletic Fund Craig Willey. "The feedback was incredible after our first go-around and we have made some improvements that will make this year's event an even greater success for our partners and supporters."
More than 450 golfers and supporters participated in the inaugural Chippewa Challenge, raising just over $100,000 for Central Michigan Athletics.
Capacity crowds of 360 golfers participated in 18-hole scrambles at three of the area's top courses and an additional 100 supporters joined in for an evening dinner, program and auction at the Soaring Eagle Resort, the state's premier entertainment venue.
Again this year, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and the CMU Bookstore will serve as presenting sponsors. Details for golfers and supporters who would like to participate in this year's event will be announced in the near future.
