CMU to Host MHSFCA All-Star Game, Selection Show

MOUNT PLEASANT – The 88 high school players to be selected to participate in the 31st Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) East-West All Star Game will be announced in a special on-line Selection Show event Sunday, Jan. 9 from Central Michigan University. The 2011 MHSFCA All Star Game will be played Saturday, June 25 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on the CMU campus. Game time will be announced by MHSFCA at a later date.
"We are extremely pleased to play the 2011 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game at CMU on June 25," said Gus Kapolka, MHSFCA All-Star Game director. "The location at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant will be excellent for fans of high school football in Michigan and the families and friends of the players and coaches. As a part of our continued efforts to make the event a tremendous experience for the participating players and their fans and supporters, we have also partnered with CMU to host for the first time, the MHSFCA All Star Game Selection Show to announce the 44 East team and 44 West team players live on-line via streaming video."
The MHSFCA All Star Game player Selection Show can be viewed live beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9 at http://www.cmich.edu/media/mhsaa/selection_show.mov from CMU.
"Our entire campus community is very excited to partner with the MHSFCA on this event, and we look forward to providing an outstanding experience for the players, coaches and fans who will be visiting our campus this summer," said CMU Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. "The All Star Game is a unique opportunity in the lives of these athletes, and we take great pride in having the opportunity to host the game, and the events surrounding it, in Mount Pleasant."
MHSFCA worked closely with both CMU and the Mount Pleasant Sports & Entertainment Commission to select the Mid-Michigan location for the 2011 All Star Game.

"The All-Star Game will not only allow players, parents and fans alike the opportunity to experience CMU, but the entire Mount Pleasant area as well. It will truly be a community-wide event."
