Baseball Program Adds Two More to Recruiting Class

Jaksa Adds Seven During Early Signing Period
MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan baseball program added two student-athletes to its 2012 recruiting class Thursday, head coach Steve Jaksa announced.
The Chippewas, who inked seven during the early signing period earlier this fall, added Alex Borglin (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) and Ryan O'Shea (Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames HS), bringing the program's 2012 recruiting class total to nine.
Below are bios of the incoming student-athletes.
| Alex Borglin High School: Batted .404 as a sophomore and is a career .392 hitter with three home runs and .586 OBS ... played summer ball for the Ann Arbor Travelers under coach Jordon Banfield, which qualified for the Connie Mack World Series in New Mexico in 2011 ... earned All-League and All-County honorable mention as defensive back in football earlier this fall ... high school coach is Jeff Hall. Coach Jaksa says: "We tracked Alex through the Ann Arbor Travelers last summer and we were looking for a good left-handed hitter. We like his actions in the infield and we think he's a kid that can play multiple positions. He's going to continue to get better as a hitter and better as an infielder as he spends more time there." | |
| | Ryan O'Shea High School: Earned all-conference honors as a sophomore and junior ... named Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association All-Star after junior season in which he finished with a 1.75 earned run average ... finished sophomore season with 1.07 ERA ... two-time team captain ... played summer ball for Nokona USA Baseball in 2009 and 2010 and Indiana Prospects in 2011.
Coach Jaksa says: "Ryan is a projectable three-pitch kid who has great leadership qualities. He has been a captain for the last two years and we're really excited to get him here and be a part of our team. He played for the Indiana Prospects, which is a high profile summer team. He had a great visit when he was here and he's a really good young man. He's going to continue to mature into a really good pitcher." |
