Bats Erupt in 15-3 Win Over Mountain Hawks

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Jake Sabol tossed seven strong innings and five different batters drove in multiple runs as Central Michigan cruised to a 15-3 victory over Lehigh on the first day of the Russ Matt Tournament on Wednesday.

The Chippewas (5-8) tallied five in the first and scored in every inning but the sixth, as the Mountain Hawks (4-5) couldn't slow down the Maroon and Gold offense.

CMU smashed eight extra-base hits, including home runs by William Arnold and Robbie Harman. Nate Theunissen and Harman each drove in three runs, and Tyler Hall, Matt Stevens and Arnold each added two RBI.

Jake Sabol picked up the win, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks over seven innings of work. Steven Ball took the loss for Lehigh, giving up five runs on three hits and three walks in one inning on the hill.

The Chippewas continue the Russ Matt Tournament on Friday against Pittsburgh at 5 p.m.
