MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team will head to Iowa Saturday for a 2 p.m. showdown, looking to snap its two-game losing streak.
The Chippewas (2-2) dropped contests in Ann Arbor, Mich., last weekend to No. 14 Michigan and Bucknell, while the Hawkeyes (5-1) are riding a season-long four-game winning streak.
The nation's second-leading scorer, Kim Scraper, leads Iowa. The sophomore has tallied 12 goals during the 2011 season, including two or more in four of her team's games and a season-high four versus Brown. The Hawkeyes' offense ranks seventh in the country, scoring four goals per game while their defense ranks 13th, allowing just 1.33 goals per game.
The Maroon and Gold have featured a balanced scoring attack in 2011, as Cayleigh Immelmann, Erin Dye and Julianna Makrinos have each scored three goals to lead the way. The CMU offense enters the weekend ranked No. 24 in the country in goals per game, averaging 2.75 per.
Saturday's contest will mark the seventh in program history against Iowa for the Chippewas, who enter the contest 0-6 versus the Hawkeyes after dropping a 1-0 decision at the CMU Field Hockey Complex in Mount Pleasant a year ago. Iowa's Jessica Barnett scored the lone goal of the game, giving IU the win with just six minutes to play.

Game Notes
Approaching Number 200 - Head Coach Cristy Freese is just two wins shy of 200 during her career at Central Michigan. Freese is the program's all-time wins leader with 198.
Offensive Outburst - The opening weekend marked the first time since 2005 that the Chippewas scored four-plus goals in back-to-back games. It also marked the first time since 1979 that the Chippewas scored 10 or more goals in their first two games of the season; that season, they scored 15 under head coach Mary Bottaro.
A Career First - Junior goalkeeper Anastasia Netto recorded her first career shutout in the Chippewas' 6-0 season-opening win over Saint Louis last Friday. The Trinidad & Tobago native needed to make just one save on the day to preserve the shutout.
Immediate Impact - Freshman Cayleigh Immelmann has added an offensive spark to the Chippewas in her freshman season thus far. The Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape native is tied for the team lead with three goals and has tallied one assist to put her second on the team with seven points.
